Might get a couple hundred US converted to Chinese Yuan Renminbi... better to do it at your local bank than at the airport.

From Wikipedia so should be good :-) Exchange rates are always better when using an ATM in the country you visit/are... AT least that's my experience.
Money[edit] Most ATM's around the city work with international cards, such as the Bank of China and the China Merchants Bank.
Western Union, Located in almost every China Post 中国邮政 ''zhongguo youzheng'' and Agricultural Bank 农业银行 ''nongye yinhang'', look for the yellow western union sign. 西联汇款 xilian huikuan in Chinese edit Bank of China Heilongjiang Branch, No.19, Hongjun Jie, ☎ 0451-3633518-8111 (fax: 0451-3646455). This is the only bank in the city where you can exchange Travelers Checks. edit

I'll probably bring the equivalent of 100$ USD of Chineese Yuan. Usually Visa and Mastercard are accepted everywhere so I'll use them as much as possible.

I'll go for ATM. My experience is that for exotic currencies (like chinese) this is the far cheapest...

Agree with Endre: however for all Europeans: don't forget to turn on the "Geo-Control" for the time being in China if you want to use ATM
