If you haven't already I recommend you register with your countries Ministry/Department for Foreign Affairs. I believe they would have a similar program to Australia's smartraveller.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx

@ Paul Taylor .....That service is available for me as well but I'm Dutch that means I gotta pay for this S**T so I'd rather organise it myself. I should be just fine with a temporary worldwide travel insurance (instead of my regular European coverage).

@arnold. Smart traveller is mostly a heads up before you travel and a way to register your travel in case of emergency. We still have to get travel insurance as well
