FYI Bryan and I are in the throws of organising our flights and the subsequent visas. There's a small hold up with getting details on a friendly match which may alter our point of departure. We hope have this completed next week.

Hello Bill,
Brandon and I are still waiting for our flight details. Actually we don't know who will be booking our flight. Football Canada weren't sure and said it would be discussed last weekend. As soon as we have details we'll share it.

Should we get started on the visa from our end or do we need to wait for the official Chineese invitation?
... sorry, wrong thread.

If you have enough information to proceed on your visa without the information from Ken Li... then please do so. Tech meeting was this past weekend so Ken should be sending something out soon.

LH7304 and LH7291 are code-shares with Lufthansa operated by Air China. So for the person collecting us and dropping us off at the airport the best flight numbers are CA1623 (arriving) and CA1640 (departing) as this is the actual metal we'll be flying.

Something slightly unusual that came up when booking these flights. When arriving in China and you're transferring from an international arrival to a domestic departure, the normal procedure is that your baggage clears customs at the first Airport you land at in China. The effect of this is (for those of use going through Beijing at least) you'll need to collect your hold luggage at Beijing, clear customs and then re-check it in for your domestic flight to Harbin. (See en.bcia.com.cn/guide/transfer_i_d.shtml)In my experience this is slightly unusual as in my previous experience hold luggage clears customs at my final destination, however I've never flown into or via China before. I've checked with our operating airline (Lufthansa) and they've confirmed that you only need to do this when arriving in China, so when we're departing we can check our bags in at Harbin and we don't see them again until our final destination. This is certainly the case for Beijing, I believe it's the same for Shanghai (but still worth checking) and it's probably the same for other airports (although I'd guess most/all of use are going through those two airports).
